Rocare completed a radiotherapy refurbishment project for Varian Medical Systems, supporting the installation of the UK’s first Varian Halcyon radiotherapy treatment system at Queen’s Hospital, Romford. The aim was to modernise the treatment environment so patients could benefit from advanced, image guided radiotherapy within a purpose built setting. As one of the busiest oncology departments in southern England, the hospital needed a space that supported efficient clinical workflows while remaining calm and reassuring for patients.
We delivered the refurbishment works required to prepare the radiotherapy area for the installation of the new Halcyon systems. This involved coordinating the programme around specialist requirements and ensuring the environment was fully ready for the introduction of new treatment technology. Throughout the works, we maintained the standard expected in a patient facing healthcare space, with careful attention to quality, safety, and the overall finish of the modernised department.
The refurbished radiotherapy space enabled the introduction of the UK’s first Halcyon systems at Queen’s Hospital, helping clinicians deliver high speed, fully image guided radiotherapy. The new systems enhance treatment precision and improve patient comfort, supporting the hospital’s focus on patient centred care and strengthening their ability to provide high quality, efficient cancer treatment within a modern environment.
